The capital of Texas is located in the center of the state.
Cultural Attractions
Austin is home to the University of Texas-Austin, Austin City Limits Music and South by Southwest Festivals, and the Austin Film Office, which provides support for budding filmmakers. The city's slogan: "Keep Austin Weird."
Recreation
While Lake Travis provides ample water activities and a clothing-optional beach, Austin also boasts caverns, Zilker Park, and Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.
Economy
Not only is UT-Austin the city's largest employer, it's one of the largest employers in the state.
Fun Fact
Austin is home to the world's largest urban bat colony. Each night at dusk from April to October, people gather to see thousands of bats fly out from under the Congress Avenue Bridge.
While attending the University of Texas in the early 1980's, I decided that Austin was a pretty cool place to live. With it's laid back lifestyle and gorgeous lake and hill country setting, I knew it was the best location Texas had to offer, and I'd be a fool not to eventually make Austin my home.
Austin quickly grows on you, and the prevailing attitude in and around the city is one of genuine friendliness.
I find great pleasure now helping newcomers find their niche in Austin, and helping current Austinites move about the area as their needs and wants change.
